The brief

Tell the story of a mountain bike stage race in the Apennines, day by day.

How it was solved

Part of The Outdoor Lab's photo and video team: on course with the camera, aerial and follow shots, editing every night.

What was delivered

Race photography and one vertical video per stage, ready for social media.

The brief

Show the bikes and gear of a leading bike shop, in action and in detail.

How it was solved

A full shoot: gear collected from the shop, a rider, a mountain location and close-ups of the components.

Javi Picaza, Jabizi.

Photographer and filmmaker based in the Basque Country. I have spent years documenting outdoor sport, above all mountain biking.

I don't watch the sport from the outside. I know how a rider moves, how a race unfolds and what the community behind it is like. That lets me be there before the moment happens.

I work in Spanish, Basque and English.
